Advisory Board

A member of the advisory board, Dr. Green brings with him over 30 years of experience as an optical design engineer. He specializes in optical, electrical, and mechanical engineering. He also has over 20 years of experience with technological start-ups. Dr. Green received his PhD in material science at Cornell University, where he discovered and measured high pressure solid-solid structural phase transformations and equations of state for elements and III-V compounds using energy dispersive x-ray diffraction with synchrotron source and optical spectroscopy in diamond anvil cells.

Prof. Leigh Phoenix brings over 40 years of experience to his position as a member of the advisory board. He received his PhD in mechanical engineering at Cornell University and regularly teaches both undergraduate and graduate students. Most recently, in 2005, Prof. Leigh Phoenix was awarded the NASA NESC Engineering Excellence Award for his pressure vessel work in support of the Shuttle’s Return to Flight. Prof. Leigh Phoenix’s recent research includes numerical modeling of ballistic impact into multi-layer, fibrous materials for body armor, mechanics of failure and probabilistic lifetime modeling of composite-overwrapped pressure vessels, and development of polymeric fiber cables for helicopter rescue operations.
